My Professional Practice

I have a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Masters of Social Work (MSW). I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I have 15 years experience working in front-line social work as well as 6 years experience as a therapist. I also teach social work at George Brown College and Ryerson University. Much of my work has been with women, youth, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) communities. I use an eclectic approach but draw principally from:

  • Anti-Oppressive Practice
  • Mindfulness
  • Strengths-Based Approaches
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Emotional Focused Therapy
  • Expressive Arts

I am trauma-informed and understand the mind and body to be deeply connected. I come from an anti-oppressive perspective and have a strong understanding of the emotional impacts of systemic inequalities. As such, I am also guided by a harm reduction framework and am sex positive. What is important to me is the quality and depth of the relationship we establish.

I am here to try and understand you as best as I can, in a non-judgmental way. I am known as someone who is warm, gentle, and supportive, and I have a good sense of humor! I receive clinical supervision as well as am part of a peer supervision group. I am committed to being present to you as we explore your emotions and life experiences.

With compassion, care, and experience, I will support you in your goals.
